You've really ...Retention has always been bad. You've really got to be just the right kind of person to not just become a teacher but remain a teacher, and woe betide the poor kids who get a teacher who shouldn't still be a teacher but didn't have the guts or chutzpa to get out. Regardless of the hours (they are what you make them--forget the arguments on either side: O, we work so much; Hey, you get summers off! --period) it's a hard job and, if you're doing right--i.e. if you care--pretty darn stressful. More than that, you don't teach for the money, but the lack thereof has the potential to cause pretty big stress outside the classroom. If you can deal with all that, and if your family can deal with all that, and you love teaching (like me--I'm REALLY going to miss it--like, more than I'm going to miss my drums), then yeah, it's for you.Joseph Centerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00090686611405364311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4717654361377519730.post-21918749713590839692011-06-01T05:33:09.670-07:002011-06-01T05:33:09.670-07:00It's gotta be especially bad after Memorial Da...It's gotta be especially bad after Memorial Day. I guess you could call them &quo...I've seen ... I guess you could call them "pockets" of kids among populations that seem able to overlook even these sorts of polarizing differences. I'm not a sociologist, and I'm not sure how it all fits together, but the kid mocked--whoever he/she is--I believe is the target of some jealousy in bully. Insecurity is the most obvious factor--that is some insecure bully makes fun of someone else to build himself up--but I think there's jealousy there as well. It warrants research that I don't have the time or means to do (and which has already been done), but it's something that interests me--enough so that I'm considering pursuing criminal defense in my law studies, but in the direction of child and adolescent defense....Joseph Centerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00090686611405364311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4717654361377519730.post-89437800108431826572011-03-10T13:19:01.787-08:002011-03-10T13:19:01.787-08:00Yeah, I agree.
